Marguerite Levin Director & Clarinet

Marguerite Levin is a Boston area clarinetist who leads a diversified career as performer and teacher.  She is on faculty at Northeastern University, and the International Music Academy in Cremona, Italy.  She performs regularly with North Winds Quintet, Trio Montage, Plymouth Philharmonic, Lexington Symphony and occasionally with the Boston Ballet Orchestra.  She was Principal Clarinetist with the Baltimore Opera Orchestra for over 10 years, a member of the United States Navy Band/Washington, D.C. and performed extensively with the Wolf Trap Opera Orchestra and the National Gallery Orchestra.  She was Principal Clarinetist on the 2010 Grammy Nominated best opera recording of Wolf Trap Opera's Volpone.  Her former students are in professional orchestras, military bands and teaching all across the United States.  Levin received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas, and graduate degrees from Catholic University and University of Maryland.  She is enjoying her recent move to the Pinehills of Plymouth Massachusetts and looks forward to contributing to its cultural environment.


Meryl Summers 

Bassoon

Meryl Summers’s career as a bassoonist has allowed her to perform internationally in countries including China, Germany, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, and Colombia. Meryl is the principal bassoonist of the Cape Cod Symphony, and is an active freelancer in the greater Boston area, performing regularly with some of Boston’s premier ensembles. She also performs regularly as a substitute bassoonist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestra. She has performed at several music festivals, including the Tanglewood Music Center, the National Repertory Orchestra, and the Youth Orchestra of the Americas. In 2012, she was a finalist in the IDRS Fernand Gillet-Hugo Fox Bassoon Competition.  While on a Fulbright Grant, she performed with many regional orchestras throughout Germany. Meryl held the position of 2nd bassoon in the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra before moving back to Boston to begin a Masters in Occupational Therapy at Tufts University. Her musical schooling includes a Bachelor’s Degree from Northwestern University, and a Master’s Degree in music from Yale University.  When Meryl is not performing, she works in a hand therapy clinic on the south shore treating a wide variety of upper extremity conditions. She enjoys spending time with her two daughters, husband, and two dogs in her free time!


Sarah Troxler 

Piano

Sarah Troxler, Pianist, is an active performer, vocal coach, and theatre music director throughout the South Shore and greater Boston area. Passionate about community, arts, and education, she works with local organizations such as Plymouth's own Americana Theatre Company, Scituate's Spotlight Music and Theater Academy, and more. A graduate of Longy School of Music (Master of Music, Collaborative Piano) and Eastern Nazarene College (BA, Piano Performance), she currently serves as Music Accompanist for Scituate Public Schools, Teaching Artist at South Shore Conservatory, Worship Coordinator at North Street Community Church in Hingham, and Pianist of Duxbury's Snug Harbor Community Chorus. Sarah is also a recent fellow of the Mass Cultural Council’s Music Educators & Teaching Artists Program, where she worked to cultivate the voice of youth artists through mentorship and outreach opportunities. 

 


Angelica Vendetti

Violin


Angelica Vendetti has been a professional violinist and music educator for more than two decades. She spent her formative years training at the New England Conservatory of Music, Walnut Hill School for the Performing Arts, and is a graduate of Oberlin College, where she majored in Violin Performance at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. 


Angelica has performed widely, both at home and abroad. Most recently she has enjoyed performing closer to home, joining The Americana Theatre Company for a major production of The Robber Bridegroom, and appearing in local solo and chamber engagements. 


Angelica owns and operates a lesson studio in downtown Plymouth. There, she has developed a vibrant and active community of students of all ages and levels of experience. Students from Angelica’s studio have gone on to earn first chair positions in regional student orchestras, award placement in concerto competitions, and acceptance into elite college-level music programs. 


As both a performer and a teacher, Angelica has devoted her professional life to sharing the joys of music and learning with people in a meaningful and accessible way. 




James Raftopoulos 

Viola

James Raftopoulos has enjoyed playing his viola with chamber ensembles, orchestras, and with the rock band Trans-Siberian Orchestra.  He received his Bachelor of Music degree at BU studying with Michelle LaCourse and his Master of Music at Eastman School of Music studying with George Taylor. While at Eastman, James also earned a prestigious Orchestral Studies Diploma that allowed him to perform with the Rochester Philharmonic.  While in school, he also participated in the Round Top Music Festival and the NC School of the Arts International Music Festival that took him on tour to Italy, France and Spain for the summer performing in the most historic concert halls in Europe.

 

James enjoys his time playing with Boston area orchestras that allow him to regularly perform in Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, Sander’s Theater, and Mechanics Hall.  He has played with the Erie Philharmonic in PA, North Shore Philharmonic, Salem Philharmonic, Symphony by the Sea and has been principal viola of both the MIT Summer Philharmonic and Civic Symphony of Boston.  He is currently principal viola of the New England Philharmonic and the Mercury Orchestra.  James is also a proud member of the Plymouth Philharmonic viola section.  James loves living in Plymouth and going to the beautiful waterfront area in downtown Plymouth all year round.
